2010/2011 Registration
Registration for the 2010-11 preschool year is now on-going.
Although all programs are currently full, we encourage you to place your child on the waiting list. Many changes can happen with our class lists prior to the Fall, and we wouldn't want to miss out on an opportunity for your family to join us!
To be placed on our waitlist, please email the Registrar and indicate:
- Three year old or four year old program. To qualify for the
3 year old program, the child must turn 3 by December 31 of
the current school year (i.e. 2 years, 8 months as of start
of school year), and for the 4 year old program, the child must
turn 4 by the end of February of the current school year (i.e.
3 years, 6 months as of start of school year);
- Morning waitlist, afternoon waitlist or both (please note that if you choose both, you will be contacted if there is an opening in either session, but students cannot be enrolled in both sessions);
- Contact phone number;
In order for registrations to be considered complete, registration
must include:
Completed registration forms (see below). All information (2
pages) must be complete. Incomplete forms will NOT
be processed
A signed copy of the child release policy, discipline policy and
parental waiver
4 Cheques payable to the Bearspaw Preschool Society (see
amounts listed under Class Times and Tuition Fees, below). All
cheques MUST be submitted at the time of registration to secure
a position. There will be a $25 charge for NSF cheques.
A membership for the Bearspaw Glendale Community Association MUST
be purchased from the Bearspaw Lifestyle Center on or before the
first day of classes.

Registrants must be toilet trained and attain 3 years of age by December
31st of the school year for which the child is being enrolled. Maximum
14 students per class.

Registration is not determined on a first-come, first served basis, but rather follows the priority levels as outlined below.
Pre-registration for the coming year takes place at the beginning
of the calendar year. Dates will be posted when they are confirmed.
Priority at Pre-registration will be given in the following order *:
a.) Children currently enrolled in Bearspaw Preschool, same time slot
b.) Children currently enrolled in Bearspaw Preschool, change of time slot
c.) Siblings of children currently enrolled in Bearspaw Preschool
d.) Siblings of children previously enrolled in Bearspaw Preschool
e.) Children who were previously enrolled in a program but withdraw prior to current year registration (minimum four weeks attendance)
Regular Registration for the coming year commences in February
of the calendar year. Dates will be posted when they are confirmed.
Priority at registration will be given to:
a.) Bearspaw Residents (as defined by Bearspaw School Boundaries), proof of residency required.
b.) Siblings of anyone who was previously enrolled in Bearspaw Preschool.
c.) All other Registrations will be given spots based on availability.
* If, at any level of priority, more applications are received than
spots are available, positions will be filled by lottery. Once all spots
are taken, the remaining registrants will be put on the waitlist in
an order also determined by lottery.
After the registration nights, any new registrations will be processed
on a first come basis for any remaining spots. If there are no spots
available, applicants will be put on the waitlist in the order that
they are received.
Class times correspond with those of the Bearspaw School where possible, to
facilitate drop off and pick up times with older siblings.
The classroom door will be opened no sooner than five (5) minutes before
the start of class. Please be as punctual as possible when dropping
off and picking up your child.
Children are required to leave a pair of non-marking shoes on the first day of class, which will be left at the school for the duration of the year. Both indoor and outdoor footwear should be done up with Velcro or zippers rather than shoe laces to facilitate movement of students between indoor to outdoor activities.
Please keep a change of clothes in your child's backpack, to bring to school each day, in case of spills or other accidents.
Each child is required to bring their own healthy, nut-free snack to class. The recommended snack is one serving from each of two food groups, as well as 100% fruit juice. If your child suffers from any allergies, please inform the teacher.
We strongly encourage families to use re-usable food and drink containers. The goal is to have a litter-less snack. All juice boxes and Zip-lock bags will be returned in your child's backpack to be recycled at home.
